Our Father Loves Us | Short Sermon Series

Have you ever considered the weight of what it means that God calls Himself our Father? Anyone who is a parent knows the great responsibility of that role, how incredibly difficult it can get, and how much sacrifice it involves.

Isn’t it incredible, then, that God, powerful and glorious in every way, would reach out to humanity and desire to relate and take care of us in the same way a father would?

It’s as bizarre as the king of a country taking on the role of being a father to every citizen – instead of sitting on his throne and being served, he leaves his kingdom and visits his citizens. Day and night, he provides for their every need, comforting them in their struggles, and guiding them as they grow. He loves his citizens so much that when they do wrong, He takes their place in their punishments - even if the sentence is death.

What king would relate to his citizens in such a personal way? What king would give his life for his people?

Only one king would do all that, and His name is Jesus. The amazing news? He’s the King of your life and of mine. He calls Himself our Father and calls us His children. He suffered and died on the cross, taking on our guilt and letting us live free from the shackles of sin.

Truly, come and see what great love the Father has lavished on us. It is our prayer for you that the love of God would awaken you to love Him all the more, with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

God loves you – He calls you His child – there’s no doubting this love!
